Many of us realize the importance of paying attention to the care of our bodies and our minds. We exercise and try to eat properly. We educate ourselves on various topics. In these ways, we develop the tools we have to cope in the physical world – the attributes of body and mind. However, the attributes that are so useful to us in the physical world; physical strength, health, ability, intelligence and education, do not equip us to cope in the spiritual world. Since we are eternally spiritual beings and only temporarily physical beings, we should try to also focus our attention and develop spiritual competencies as well. Spiritual meditation is the tool to achieve this. Through meditation, we can awaken, educate, 'nourish' and strengthen our soul, which in turn will also help us mentally and physically.
